Watches of Switzerland has opened a new boutique store in Auckland. Founded in 1964, this near six decade old specialist watch retailer was acquired by The Hour Glass Group in 2014 and has an expanding network of 10 boutiques.
Watches of Switzerland is poised to contribute to the rapidly evolving watch scene in New Zealand. This latest boutique in Auckland showcases two watch manufacturers exclusively represented by Watches of Switzerland in New Zealand —NOMOS Glashütte and Louis Erard.
Every element of the boutique interior was carefully selected to elevate the client experience. From the subdued colour palette to the open-plan construction and floor-to-ceiling windows fronting the boutique, the space was designed as an intimate environment for lively discussions on watches. Situated in the vibrant central district, Watches of Switzerland Auckland is primed to cater to those new to watches and seasoned connoisseurs and will feature timepieces from the likes of Louis Erard and NOMOS Glashütte.
Louis Erard
Based in the Jura mountains, the birthplace of watchmaking, Louis Erard embodies the values of Swiss mechanics, the tradition that keeps its promises. Combining luxury, timelessness and elegance, this independent brand is renowned for its mechanical watches and, in particular, its iconic regulators—a collection on which the brand, founded by Mr Louis Erard in 1929, built its reputation.
Today, continuing the work of its founder and honouring watchmaking tradition, the Maison is reinterpreting the codes in a contemporary language. Louis Erard continues to set itself apart from mass-market brands. Inspired by high-end watchmaking, the brand draws on its values to enhance its mechanical timepieces.
NOMOS Glashütte
NOMOS Glashütte, one of the few owner-operated watchmaking companies in the world, creates the finest mechanical timepieces in the small Saxon town of Glashütte. NOMOS watchmakers count among the best in their field—what they have mastered is still a challenge for their colleagues elsewhere.
That is because watches have been crafted in Glashütte for many generations—for 175 years, to be precise. NOMOS Glashütte is part of this long tradition of fine German watchmaking. In accordance with the protected designation of origin for Glashütte, the watchmaking company produces its in-house movements on-site with a production depth of up to 95 per cent.
