Marco Giltrap primed for full-season assault on Porsche Carrera Cup Asia

Marco Giltrap is set to take another major stride in his rapidly rising motorsport career as he lines up for a full campaign in the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. At just 20, the Aucklander has pieced together one of the most impressive young résumés in Porsche racing and now returns with Team Porsche New Zealand and Earl Bamber Motorsport for what looks to be a defining year.

Giltrap’s ascent began with his title-winning run in the Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, a season that showcased not only his speed but his maturity behind the wheel. From there, he stepped into Carrera Cup Australia, added selected Asian rounds, and delivered a standout double podium at Sepang in 2025. His next move was Europe, where he wasted no time making an impact.

His European campaign began with a statement weekend at Portimão. In Race 1, he powered the #66 Porsche 992.1 GT3 Cup to second place, immediately showing he belonged at the front. Then came Race 2: a masterclass in mixed wet-dry conditions as he controlled the race and held off Wouter Boerekamps and Nick Ho to take a commanding win. It was the sort of performance that turns heads — and reinforces that his trajectory is only going one way.

The 2026 Carrera Cup Asia season brings added excitement with the debut of the new 992.2 GT3 Cup car, giving Giltrap the perfect platform to merge his Australasian success with his growing European momentum.

“I’m excited to be making the move to Carrera Cup Asia with Team Porsche New Zealand and Earl Bamber Motorsport. We’ve had some great success here in the past, and it will be some good competition on track,” Giltrap says.

Armed with a proven team, race-winning European form, and a brand-new Cup car beneath him, Marco Giltrap heads into 2026 ready to take on Asia’s best, and continue emerging as one of New Zealand’s most exciting motorsport talents.
