Motorsport Preview: Bathurst 1000 and Petit Le Mans bound!

One of the biggest weekends on the motorsport calendar is here, with Kiwi talent competing across the globe. From the legendary Bathurst 1000 to the high-speed drama of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, our drivers are set to take on some of the most iconic circuits in racing.

Supercars Championship - Ryan Wood, Andre Heimgartner & Matt Payne

Ryan Wood, Andre Heimgartner and Matt Payne will be driving alongside their co-drivers as they endure the 1000km race on Sunday afternoon at 1:45pm (NZDT). The action leading up to the great race starts on Thursday with practice sessions before qualifying on Friday and the Top 10 Shootout on Saturday. Matt Payne currently sits in 2nd in the Road to Finals and 3rd in the Enduros championship.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia – Clay Osborne & Marco Giltrap

Clay Osborne and Marco Giltrap are also at Mount Panorama this weekend, racing in Round 6 of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. With three races across the weekend, there is bound to be plenty of drama in the competitive field. With the championship heating up and Bathurst’s unforgiving layout demanding precision and bravery, both drivers will be aiming to maximise points and momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – Earl Bamber, Scott Dixon & Hunter McIlrea

Over in America, all eyes are on Atlanta as the 28th annual MOTUL Petit Le Mans roars into Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this week, marking the thrilling finale of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. With 53 entries across GTP, LMP2, GTD Pro, and GTD classes, the 10-hour endurance race on Saturday, October 11, will decide championship titles in every category. Catch Earl Bamber and Scott Dixon in GTP, while Hunter McIlrea races in LMP2.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America – Ryan Yardley

As the Porsche Carrera Cup North America season nears its dramatic conclusion, Ryan Yardley heads into the penultimate round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta sitting atop the championship standings. Yardley has shown remarkable consistency all season, and now faces a high-pressure weekend as part of the MOTUL Petit Le Mans event, where he leads the championship by 10 points.

NASCAR – Shane van Gisbergen

Shane van Gisbergen is hot off a historic win at the Charlotte Roval – where he collected his fifth straight road course victory. SVG is back under the lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the South Point 400. Momentum is driving him forward with his best oval finish of 10th the previous week at Kansas Speedway. There are only four races remaining for the 2025 season.
