Motorsport Preview: GT NZ Championship Finale, Chinese Grand Prix & North America Racing
New Zealand
Marco Giltrap and William Exton look to wrap up the GT New Zealand Championship season at Hampton Downs with a double title win for the Giltrap Group Motorsport team. Marco Giltrap has already claimed the Junior Pro title in his Porsche 992 Cup Car, while William Exton has a 200.5-point lead in the GT4 class. Spectator tickets are available at the gates and more information can be found at nextgennz.co.nz. Live stream of the weekend’s racing can be viewed on Stuff Speed Hub.

Asia
Formula 1 heads to the Shanghai International Circuit for the Chinese Grand Prix. The weekend will mark the first Sprint of the campaign, taking place on a circuit best described as having long straights and even longer corners. “Last weekend has only made me hungrier to go out there in Shanghai and give it my all,” said Liam Lawson. The schedule is in a slightly different format, with the Sprint Race on Saturday at 4 pm (NZ) and the Race on Sunday at 8 pm (NZ).

Brock Gilchrist will also be racing at the Shanghai International Circuit this weekend in the opening round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, for Team Porsche New Zealand & Earl Bamber Motorsport. Brock had a very promising pre-season practice at the circuit earlier this month, finishing in 2nd place.

North America
Shane van Gisbergen heads back to the East Coast with the NASCAR Cup Series for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 in Miami. Held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, it is another oval circuit race. SVG is making a statement with his South Beach-inspired livery for the weekend.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, the NTT IndyCar Series is back at the Thermal Club, a 3.067-mile, 17-turn road course (counterclockwise) in Thermal, California. This marks the track’s first time hosting a points-paying round, following last year’s non-championship $1 Million Challenge. After Round 1 in St. Petersburg, Scott Dixon sits second in the standings with 41 points, 10 behind leader Alex Palou.
The full weekend schedule and results will be live on Giltrap Group Motorsportsocial media channels.
