Top Motorsport Honour for Giltrap Group
Representing two generations of the Giltrap Family, Richard, Michael and Marco Giltrap accepted the award, acknowledging the passion of the late Sir Colin Giltrap for helping Kiwis fly on the world stage. The lifetime of support described by Motorsport New Zealand (MSNZ) as “a cornerstone of motorsport in New Zealand, offering unwavering support to drivers, teams, events, and the sport as a whole. Their commitment has gone far beyond branding, becoming a powerful enabler of Kiwi's success on the world stage.

From working as pit crew for Tony Shelly at the 1962 New Zealand Grand Prix to backing the New Zealand A1GP team to multiple wins in the World Cup of Motorsport, the Giltrap name has been inextricably linked to our country's success on tracks around the world.

Drivers have worn the iconic black and white Giltrap Group logo to victory at Bathurst and Le Mans, in Formula One, and in the World Rally Championship. The award citation acknowledged this, “Giltrap Group’s investment has helped unlock international opportunities for some of New Zealand’s brightest motorsport talents. Their name has become one of the most respected to feature on helmets and overalls of Kiwi drivers competing across the globe.”

MSNZ also recognised Giltrap Group’s contribution to domestic Motorsport, including ‘supporting major domestic events and championship series, bringing global prestige to the local scene and elevating the standard of the sport in New Zealand. Their dedication to developing the next generation is equally commendable. From contributing to the Elite MotorSport Academy of New Zealand to funding multiple scholarship initiatives, the Giltrap Group has consistently opened doors for aspiring talent.’
