Giltrap Motorsport Dominates in Teretonga, Leitch and van Gisbergen Shine Abroad
The weekend started with a qualifying clean sweep, as Giltrap and Exton claimed pole in their respective classes. Exton was untouchable, securing a perfect run in the GT4 class by winning every race of the weekend. The Blenheim native's dominant showing has extended his championship lead to what now looks like an unassailable margin.
Despite Teretonga’s long straights and limited passing opportunities seemingly favouring the AMG-GT GT2 cars in the Open Class, Giltrap didn’t let it faze him. Piloting his Porsche Cup car, he claimed two victories and a second-place finish in the feature race.
Giltrap Motorsport will be back in action next weekend at Highlands Motorsport Park as part of the New Zealand Grand Prix.
Across the Tasman, Brendon Leitch took top honours in the Silver class at the Bathurst 12 Hour. His Wall Racing-run Lamborghini Huracán GT3 finished ninth overall, clinching the class victory.
Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen made his first competitive outing in the #88 Trackhouse Racing NASCAR Cup car at the Clash at the Coliseum exhibition race. SVG advanced through the heats to the feature, running a tidy race to finish top-10 in P9 - a great start to his debut full-time Cup Series campaign.
