Kia Sportage receives thorough facelift

The immensely popular Kia Sportage is having a substantial mid-life facelift, with interior updates also part of the package.

The Sportage is the next car in the Korean brand’s line-up to be brought line with the styling language that debuted on the fully-electric EV9.

This can clearly be seen in the vertical headlight cluster, new day-time running lights and a squarer front-grille. The rear stays much the same, apart from a more complex design for the taillights.

The interior has also had a glow-up, with the showpiece being the huge 12.3inch infotainment screen running Kia’s latest OS, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available of course. A new steering wheel also stars, with the two-spoke design seen in the brand’s latest cars. Added sound-deadening also makes the interior a more tranquil place to be.

When it comes to drive, the engine options remain unchanged, but the mild-hybrid model now receives an eight-speed gearbox, while the full-hybrids retain the current six-speed changer but get a 5hp bump for their electric motor. Regenerative braking can also be adjusted in the full hybrid, while an ‘Infant’ mode has been added to make power delivery as smooth as possible for the little humans in the back seat.

Local pricing and specification are yet to be announced, but for all the latest information on the new Kia Sportage, contact Giltrap Kia.
