The first race was started by Brendon’s teammate, Gabriel Rindone, and the team were lucky not to have been caught up in a big crash that interrupted the race. After the race was restarted, all pitstops went smoothly and the drivers demonstrated superb pace, particularly Leitch who laid down a blistering stint that contributed significantly to the podium result. Third driver, Marco Mapelli crossed the finished line.
Race two saw much the same performance from the Kiwi who is a regular GT driver and has plenty of experience with the Huracán.
Despite starting from the rear of the field, starting driver Gabriel Rindone pushed forward in the earlier stages to give Mapelli a good position to maintain. The Italian drove a perfect mid-race stint before it was Leitch’s turn to keep the car in the front pack for the chequered flag.
Leipert Motorsport have indicated they’re very happy with Leitch’s performance and their first experience in the AsianLeMans series. The team has concluded the series fourth overall.
