Bias is a 4 time NZ Champion and has his sights firmly on the Paris Olympics 2024. Extending their passionate support for New Zealand sport, the Giltrap Group are proud to announce their latest alignment with BMX racer and future Olympic hopeful, Michael Bias.

Raised in North Harbour, Bias has been racing BMX since he was just 3 years old and committed himself to it full time in his teens. Now 27, he has rightly built recognition around the world as one of the sport’s best.

A four time New Zealand champion in the Elite men category, and with a podiums in Europe Michael is no stranger to the challenges of international competition and has achieved some top 12 finishes on World cup circuit. The intense competition stands Bias in good stead Olympic squad consideration and this is certainly a goal for the young rider.

“I want to become consistently in the top 8 in the world on the World Cup circuit and finish in the top 8 this year at the world champs. And ultimately the goal is to represent New Zealand at the Olympics,” Said Bias.

Bias is equally passionate about helping the next generation of riders, BMX remains on of the few sports where the elite can still have close connection with younger riders and offer insight and support directly.

Bias will be based in France for the next few months with a busy riding schedule, this is a critical step that helps him accrue points at qualified venues as part of his Olympics campaign. I’ll be back for the NZ summer then back to Europe to race as points are continuing all the way till May 2024 and all of the points count towards qualifying. The Giltrap Group are proud to assist Michael on this journey.

“I’ve known many great New Zealand athletes that have been fortunate to have partnered with Giltrap Group and I am so proud to be representing them with my racing” Said Bias of the partnership.
