Kaleb Ngatoa Takes His Third S5000 Victory

The win is validation for Ngatoa who has endured a challenging season. Kiwi star Kaleb Ngatoa has claimed his third win in the hotly contested S5000 Australian Driver’s Championship at Hidden Valley raceway.

The Kiwi returned with Team BRM for the final weekend of the series at the Hidden Valley Raceway, Darwin and made a perfect start from the front row of the reverse top-eight race. Withstanding valiant attacks from James Golding to record his third career S5000 victory.

Ngatoa has endured a frustrating season – not only learning several new tracks and a new tyre used in the S5000 Championship, but also constantly chasing funds to ensure he can compete from round to round.

Having missed the last round, the Marton racer was under no illusion that his debut weekend in Darwin wasn’t going to be easy, but was eager to get back to racing with team BRM.

“We only have a small team back in New Zealand, so it’s been hard work just to ensure we can make the entry list at Hidden Valley,” Ngatoa explained.

“Having said that it’s been great to secure another win. Darwin has plenty of fast sweeping bends and that definitely suited my driving style for sure.”

Despite missing a round and a disappointing DNF in Race three at Darwin, Ngatoa is still eighth in the points standings and remains positive for the final round at Sandown in September, as well as future S5000 opportunities.

“I love these cars and whilst it has been a challenge learning the new tracks in what is the fastest racing car in Australian motorsport, it’s been super valuable and I’m determined to make the last round the strongest of my season.”
