Supercars’ greatest rivals join forces for the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona
Van Gisbergen and McLaughlin kept us entertained for years with their on-track duels and created some of the most memorable moments in Supercars history. Now, their combined expertise and experience will surely make them a favourite for Daytona’s gruelling 24-hour challenge.
Since leaving Supercars, McLaughlin has established himself as a front-runner in the IndyCar Series with Team Penske, earning multiple race wins and showing his ability to adapt to new disciplines. Van Gisbergen, meanwhile, is now a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver after a standout 2024 in the Xfinity Series.
Van Gisbergen’s raw pace and adaptability will complement McLaughlin’s precise driving style, sharpened in single seaters. The two Kiwis bring a balance of aggression and consistency that will make them formidable contenders in the GTD Pro class.
The pair will be piloting a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R wearing the colours of Weathertech, one of SVG’s biggest supporters in the US.
“It’s going to be incredible to work with Scott,” said van Gisbergen. “We’ve had some great battles, but now we get to combine our strengths and go after something really special.”
McLaughlin echoed the sentiment: “Shane’s one of the best I’ve ever raced against, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as teammates. The Rolex 24 is a massive event, and we’re going all in.”
Also taking part in the Rolex 24 at Daytona are experienced GTP pilots Brendon Hartley for Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing, Earl Bamber for Cadillac Whelen Racing, and Scott Dixon for Acura Meyer Shank Racing.
Reigning IMSA Endurance Cup LMP2 champion Hunter McElrea is back with TDS Racing for the 2025 season and will be looking to start his title defence with a strong result at Daytona.
The Rolex 24 at Daytona marks the start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
