Kia reveal the practical PV5

Kia has revealed the exterior design of its PV5 Passenger and Cargo models ahead of the brand’s second Kia EV Day, set to take place in Tarragona, Spain, later this month.

First shown as the Concept PV5 at CES 2024, the mid-sized PV5 is the first vehicle under Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy, designed to provide flexible, modular solutions for both commercial and personal use.

The PV5 will be available in multiple configurations, including Passenger and Cargo variants. Kia plans to expand the range with additional conversion options, which will be introduced at the 2025 Kia EV Day.

Kia has designed the PV5 to depart from traditional light commercial vehicles, incorporating a modular approach that allows customization for different applications.

“While the PV5 is offered in three different body styles to provide innovative solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, they all embody the same consistent design values inspired by Kia’s design philosophy, ‘Opposites United,’” said Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design. “Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”

The PV5 Passenger features what Kia describe as a ‘geometric’ profile with large windows for improved visibility. Black graphic surrounds contrast with the body color, while black geometric wheel arch claddings and rocker panels align with Kia’s SUV lineup.

The PV5 Cargo shares the same base design as the Passenger but adopts a boxier shape to maximize space efficiency. Twin side-opening rear doors improve practicality for loading and unloading and the clean, modern rear design complements the model’s functional nature.

Kia will unveil the full PV5 range, including additional derivative models and conversion options, at its 2025 Kia EV Day on February 24. Detailed information on interiors and product offerings will follow on February 27.
