Liam Lawson's first Red Bull Racing car is here.
This groundbreaking event marked a first for Formula 1, with all teams revealing their cars side by side in front of a live audience. The spectacle was accompanied by music and commentary from comedian Jack Whitehall, who hosted and roasted drivers and the teams.
True to Red Bull’s philosophy of "if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it," the RB21’s livery remains largely unchanged from last year. Despite the relatively unchanged design, excitement remains high for Liam Lawson, who will be starting his first full year in Formula 1 driving a car that is expected to regularly challenge for race wins and the championship.
The RB21 will hit the track for the first time in Bahrain during pre-season testing from February 26th to 28th. During these three days, drivers will be logging hundreds of laps to fine-tune setups and build their neck muscles back up. While lap times in testing are rarely a reliable indicator of outright performance, the data gathered will be crucial for teams in preparing for the season ahead.
The Australian Grand Prix on the 13th – 16th March will be the first time the new cars will be competing in anger against each other, and it could be the first time in the modern-era that we hear the New Zealand anthem on the Formula 1 podium.
