Brendon Leitch set for first laps in a Supercar

Brendon Leitch is poised for a crucial opportunity with Matt Stone Racing as he prepares to test a Chevrolet Camaro at Sydney Motorsport Park. The test could be a decisive factor in securing him a co-driver role for the Bathurst 1000.

Leitch is being considered as a potential co-driver alongside Cameron Crick for MSR’s wildcard entry, which is set to compete at both The Bend 500 and Bathurst. The team’s endurance campaign kicks off in Sydney, with discussions underway about adding a sprint event if Supercars gives the green light.

With an extensive background in GT racing, Leitch has left his mark in various international competitions, including the 24H GT Series, GT World Challenge Europe, Le Mans Cup, Asian Le Mans Series, and IMSA Sportscar Championship. His crowning achievement came in 2023 when he secured the Pro Championship in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

In the Australian scene, he partnered with Tim Miles last year in GT World Challenge Australia, driving an Audi R8 for Dayle ITM Team MPC. Although they started strong, a series of setbacks left them finishing sixth overall.

Leitch is no stranger to Mount Panorama, having first tackled the circuit during the GT World Challenge Australia round. His experience was further reinforced this year when he competed in the Bathurst 12 Hour.

As part of MSR’s testing lineup, Leitch will take the wheel of the #35 Camaro, while Cameron McLeod and Tim Slade will drive the #4 and #10, respectively. So far, only Slade has been confirmed for the endurance races.

The full-day test at Sydney Motorsport Park runs from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, giving Leitch a key chance to impress and stake his claim for a Bathurst 1000 drive.
