Lexus of Auckland City opens Newmarket showpiece
Designed with the Lexus philosophy of omotenashi at its heart — a commitment to 'wholeheartedly caring for guests' — the facility promises an elevated experience for all visitors.
In designing the new dealership, owner Giltrap Group focused on a truly customer-focused location and eschewed the typical exterior car yard and sales office format. Instead, all the facilities, from customer lounge, product displays and offices are indoors, leading to a more convenient and comfortable experience. Even customer parking is within the new building.
Customers can view Lexus models, relax in the café-style customer lounge and take delivery of their new vehicle on the first floor.
Sharlene Van Dijk, Lexus of Auckland City Chief Executive Officer, says the new premises at 21 Great South Road is an iconic building which now proudly houses the Lexus brand.
“We had outgrown our former site in Grey Lynn and our belief in the Lexus brand and its growth potential gave us the confidence to invest in a new customer-focused facility.
“Lexus is about beautiful design and the best in automotive technology. We really wanted to reflect those qualities in our new home. My team is deeply committed to delivering on the Lexus brand promise of Experience Amazing. With a passion for customer satisfaction, we strive to provide every client with exceptional service, ensuring their journey with Lexus exceeds expectations at every touchpoint,” she says.
The new Lexus of Auckland City is spacious with a fully enclosed 2,800 square metres. At least 48 Lexus vehicles are on site as well as EV charging for six vehicles. Customers will be supported by 34 staff members at the new dealership.
Lexus New Zealand Vice President Andrew Davis says the new store reflects where Lexus as a marque is heading in New Zealand.
“Over the last 34 years you’ve seen the brand become a leader in the luxury automotive market.
“We’re embracing electrification as a core part of the brand's future, with a growing range of electrified vehicles that align with the country's increasing demand for low carbon transportation options.
“As Lexus continues to expand its lineup of luxury electrified vehicles, including models like the all-electric RZ and hybrid LBX, it aims to cater to environmentally conscious consumers without compromising on performance, luxury, or design,” he says.
The 1st of November opening of the new dealership in Newmarket also meant the end of the former Lexus of Auckland City site on Great North Road, which has now closed. Lexus customers are now encouraged to visit the Newmarket dealership or call to book in a vehicle service.
Visitors to the new dealership will be able to enjoy complementary Wi-Fi and service guests will have the option of a courtesy loan vehicle, an Uber voucher or a drop-off service.
Andrew Davis says the Newmarket location expands the reach and visibility of Lexus to its target markets in central Auckland.
“The investment in new or refurbished dealerships from our partners highlights the strength of our brand, and our excitement for the sustainable future of Lexus here in New Zealand,” he says.
As well as the new Newmarket dealership, other Lexus franchise partners around the country are investing in the luxury brand. In May, a new Lexus of Christchurch opened on Tuam Street; Lexus of East Auckland is in construction in Botany, and Lexus of Wellington is planning to move early in 2025 to a new location in Taranaki Street.
