Porsche New Zealand to help make kids' dreams come true
For over 75 years Porsche has been making the dreams of sports car enthusiasts come true. And now, the company is assuming a social responsibility that extends beyond the factory gates. Over three years the sportscar manufacturer is supporting Make-A-Wish globally, and Porsche New Zealand is helping bring this to life locally by supporting Make-A-Wish New Zealand to make dreams come true of critically ill Kiwi children.
With a commitment to grant the wish of at least three sick Kiwi children, Porsche New Zealand is inviting supporters to double the impact - by matching donations up to the total value of $15,000.
In addition, the brand plans to continue supporting Make-A-Wish New Zealand throughout 2024, through local activities with New Zealand’s four Porsche Centres and the Porsche Club of New Zealand.
At the first-ever New Zealand round of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, Porsche New Zealand invited thrill seeker Theo and his siblings Zoe and Hugh for a day of action-packed racing at the Taupo Super400. Theo suffers from Plastic Bronchitis and Make-A-Wish New Zealand helped fulfill his wish of an adrenaline-filled trip to Queenstown. Team Porsche New Zealand driver Marco Giltrap took the trio for a behind-the-scenes tour of his GT3 Cup car and gained three new fans cheering him on throughout his race.
The global partnership was announced in 2023 to mark its ‘75 Years of Porsche Sports Cars’ anniversary. Since being founded in 1980, Make-A-Wish has globally fulfilled the wishes of more than 550,000 children in 50 countries. In reference to the first Porsche – the Porsche 356, Porsche’s donated 1.8 million euros to contribute to fulfilling the wishes of 356 children with critical illnesses all around the world.
Greg Clarke, General Manager, Porsche New Zealand
“’Driven by Dreams’ is a motivation we live by at Porsche, inspired by the spirit of our founder Ferry Porsche when he designed his first dream sports car. The brand places a strong interest in supporting Make-A-Wish globally to make the dreams come true for critically ill youth and children. We share the same values in New Zealand and are looking forward to helping make wishes come true throughout 2024.”
Alan Brame, CEO, Make-A-Wish New Zealand
“We’re really thrilled to have the amazing team at Porsche New Zealand on board, helping to grant the wishes of three Kiwi children battling critical illness. Wishes have brought hope, joy and strength to thousands of children and their families in New Zealand. We’re so grateful to Porsche for their support, and we’re proud to be partnering with the team to make more dreams come true, starting off with our 2024 World Wish Month campaign.”
