Polestar will reveal its next car, Polestar 4, at the Shanghai auto show on 18 April 2023

With production of the Polestar 3 about to start in coming weeks, the Swedish performance EV brand is already looking to their next, predicably named model, the Polestar 4.

While the brand is keeping many details under wraps, we can tell you the Polestar 4 will be a slightly smaller SUV than the forthcoming Polestar 3, with more of a coupe style roofline. And for performance buffs, the Polestar 4 will be the brand’s fastest production car to date.

Consider for a second that the brand’s exclusive launch model, the Polestar 1, was capable of 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds and that suggests the Polestar 4 will pack considerable punch, perhaps with a sub 4 second 0-100km/h time.

With it’s dimensions, the Polestar 4 will be positioned slightly below Polestar 3, but like the Polestar 3, will feature clever use of aerodynamics and be packed with technology.

Design cues and sustainability enhancements initially showcased in Polestar’s concept cars will also make their production debut in Polestar 4 when it is revealed this month at Shanghai’s auto show.

“Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupé,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

With the addition of the Polestar 4, the fledgling carmaker is also making a strong strategic play as it taps into the most popular automotive market segment. It will be well placed to play a leading role in the electrification of the lucrative and sizeable premium SUV segments with the brand capable of building more than 160,000 Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs by 2025 if required.
