It’s been a clean sweep drivers Marco Giltrap and Simon Evans winning their class in all 3 rounds of the series.

Following two successful rounds at Ruapuna and Invercargill, Giltrap Group Motorsport have taken another win in the hotly contested South Island Endurance series with drivers Marco Giltrap and Simon Evans piloting the SIXT Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport to class 3 victory in Timaru this weekend.

The pair drove another textbook race keeping out of trouble in a packed field comprising of a diverse mix of drivers and machines. Simon and Marco were racing for honours in the Class 3 category and qualified 10th overall and came home in 7th position overall, winning the Class 3 category for the round and the championship.

From the Toyota 86 to now the faster Endurance series class, the pairing has been a successful combination of experience in Simon Evans and up-and-coming talent in Marco, along with the superb management by Giltrap Group Motorsport and excellent performance of the Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport.

Evans started the race and drove cleanly to hand the SIXT Porsche over to Giltrap just after the half way mark, the same strategy that has proven successful in past rounds.

As an added kicker to the race win, Giltrap Group Motorsport was also awarded, “Best Presented 3 Hour Team” by event organisers.

Speaking for the team following the race, Simon Evans was overjoyed to be taking some silverware home after a successful campaign.

“It’s been a great to team effort to pull off the Class 3 championship for the series and a nice bonus getting awarded best presented 3-hour team! The win(s) are testament to all of Giltrap Group Motorsport’s efforts, it’s been good progression for Marco and as always, it’s been fun partnering with him again. Thanks to SIERDC for putting on such a well-run series and of course all of this couldn’t be possible without our sponsors. Thank you!”

Driving duties for the pair don’t conclude just yet and the NZ Endurance Championship that combines both the North Island and South Island Endurance series championships will be held in 2 weeks at Highlands Motorsport Park.
