Orders Open For Updated Polestar 2

Demand for Polestar remains strong, with the entire allocation of current Polestar 2 models sold out just three weeks after opening New Zealand's first Polestar Space at 58 Great South Road in Newmarket, Auckland.

Bruce Fowler, Polestar New Zealand Brand Manager, says, "After selling out the first year of Polestar 2 inside six months, it is great to know that the updated Polestar 2 is on the way. Along with new exterior colours and wheel designs, the

updated Polestar 2 will be even more environmentally friendly, thanks to a continuing focus on reducing greenhouse emissions."

In 2021, Polestar reduced greenhouse gas emissions per car sold by 6%* through its focus on increased efficiency and the use of renewable energy. The updated Polestar 2 will be another step towards the target of creating a truly climate-neutral car by 2030, to halve carbon emissions per sold car between 2020 and 2030* and reach climate neutrality across its value chain by 2040.

The aluminium tray that carries the battery casing for all versions will see a CO2e reduction of 750 kg per car, thanks to the decision to only purchase aluminium for this component from smelters that use renewable energy. In the second half of the year, Polestar will replace the aluminium in the wheels with low-carbon aluminium that is produced using renewable energy; this will result in a further 600 kg CO2e reduction per car for Polestar 2.

Polestar has partnered with Circulor, a leader in supply chain traceability, to include blockchain traceability of mica, in addition to cobalt that is already traced in Polestar 2 batteries. Blockchain technology allows Polestar to trace risk minerals from material source to finished product.

Design detail updates bring new expressions to all Polestar 2 variants. Polestar's strategy on interior materials is to increase the use of renewable, recyclable and recycled materials and always to include a vegan upholstery option. In Polestar 2, an improved optional Nappa leather upholstery with greater sustainability credentials is now available.

The Performance Pack, offering next-level responsiveness, now includes a Polestar Engineered Performance Software upgrade which delivers an added 50kW and 20Nm to the dual-motor version. This raises output to 350kW (476bhp), dropping the official 0-100 km/h time to just 4.4 seconds. The Performance upgrade is an option on the Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor version.

The complete scope of design and feature updates includes:

• New exterior colours: Space (replaces Void) and Jupiter (replaces Moon)
• New designs for the standard 19-inch and optional 20-inch wheels
• New Zinc colour for ventilated Nappa leather upholstery (replaces Barley), available with new Light Ash deco (replaces Reconstructed Wood)
• Removable sunshade for the panoramic glass roof (available from Polestar Space from mid-July 2022 for all Polestar 2 with glass roof)

New Zealand has secured a good supply of the updated Polestar 2, which is scheduled to be available from September 2022.
