Enyaq RS Coupe | Škoda’s first performance EV

Following on from the announcement of the Škoda Enyaq iV battery electric vehicle, the carmaker has now revealed its second Enyaq model – the Enyaq Coupe RS iV, which is also Škoda’s first electric RS offering.

Feb 3, 2022

The new Enyaq Coupe RS iV is the result of transforming the carmaker’s Vision iV design study, which received a lot of attention when it was revealed two years ago, into a mass-produced model.

Škoda says the coupé-style roofline of the Enyaq Coupe RS iV, which slopes down from the B-pillar, gives the new car an even more emotive look, perfectly suited to a more aggressive, performance-themed template.

Škoda has revealed another electric vehicle based on the all-electric MEB platform. The new Škoda Enyaq Coupe RS iV is a sleeker, more dynamic alternative to the original version and will be made alongside it on the production line in the Mladá Boleslav factory. In this respect, both versions of the Škoda Enyaq SUV are unique, as they are currently the only models based on the MEB platform being produced outside Germany.

Since the technology and basic design language are based on the Enyaq iV, the primary innovation with the Škoda Enyaq Coupe RS iV is its body shape. The coupé-style roofline sloping down from the B-pillar gives the new car an even more emotive look. This style is accented by the sporty front bumper and the new design of the side sills painted in the body colour, which further emphasises the car’s length.

The car’s rear, with its sharply articulated edge and Škoda lettering below it on the boot lid, is completely new. One special feature of all versions of the Enyaq Coupe iV is the panoramic glass roof, which extends all the way from the windscreen to the rear window and has a strong black tint. The dynamic exterior design is enhanced by wheels with 19- to 21-inch rims and the Full LED headlamps at the front and rear, which come as standard.

The new iteration of Enyaq is the result of transforming the Vision iV concept study of 2019 into a mass-produced car.

The Enyaq Coupe RS iV will be the first all-electric Škoda coupé available as a sporty RS version. As such, the Enyaq Coupe RS iV will be the pinnacle of Škoda’s range.

The RS delivers a system output of 220kW and 460Nm of torque and has the performance to match: acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 6.5 seconds and the top speed is 180km/h, which is 20km/h faster than other model versions. The chassis of both the RS and Sportline versions of the Coupe is 15 millimetres lower at the front and 10 millimetres lower at the rear than the Enyaq SUV.

At launch, the Škoda Enyaq Coupe RS iV will arrive with a unique 131 LED-illuminated Crystal Face radiator grille as standard, whereas on the other versions it is an option. In addition, the RS version boasts black contrasting elements such as the window trims or rear diffuser, while the Sportline version also has a radiator grille in ‘piano finish’. Like all other Škoda RS models, the Enyaq Coupe RS iV showcases a red reflective strip in the rear bumper stretching across the entire width of the car.

As standard, the Škoda Enyaq Coupe RS iV comes with black 20-inch Taurus wheels, with the option of anthracite 21-inch Vision wheels, both of which have a special aerodynamic covering. RS customers will also be able to purchase the Enyaq Coupe RS iV in an exclusive Mamba green colour, while Škoda is also adding new colours to the catalogue for the standard version, such as a bold Graphite Grey Metallic shade. The sporty version of the Enyaq Coupe is also equipped with full Matrix LED headlights.

Moving inside the RS version’s cabin, buyers can choose from two interior design themes. In both cases, carbon décor on the dashboard and door panel trim is included, as are aluminium pedal covers and sports seats with integrated head rests and the RS logo. Separate trims are then available, offering mixes of contrast stitching and piping in the seats, and differing seat upholstery materials.

Three-zone air conditioning is a standard feature of the RS (two-zone is standard on other grades), and the Enyaq Coupe RS iV also comes with progressive steering.

In all versions of the Škoda Enyaq Coupe iV, the cars’ occupants can look forward to a range of ‘Simply Clever’ features and plenty of space for all the passengers and their luggage. The Enyaq Coupe boasts cargo capacity of 570-litres in its standard configuration.

The maximum charging performance for the Škoda Enyaq Coupe iV is 135kW. As a result, the vehicle’s 82kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% capacity in just 29 minutes when connected to a fast charger. At home, a wallbox delivering up to 11kW of AC power will be able to fully charge the car in six to eight hours, depending on the size of the battery. Similar times can be expected using conventional public chargers.

Further New Zealand market information on the Škoda Enyaq iV line-up, such as arrival expectations and pricing, will be available closer to the model line’s local launch.
