Volkswagen New Zealand says it anticipates a strong buyer response to the new T-Roc range. The new 221kW/400Nm ‘R’ iteration in particular is expected to prove especially popular.

The comfort, convenience, safety, and technology feature sets for all T-Roc models are significant. Pricing starts at $41,990 (plus on-road costs), with all grades available now.

Volkswagen New Zealand has unveiled its new three-pronged T-Roc line-up, featuring the T-Roc Life 2WD, the T-Roc R-Line 2WD and the new T-Roc R with 4MOTION AWD.

The updated T-Roc features a sharpened exterior design, enhanced technical, safety and infotainment features and a refined interior in keeping with the latest style and convenience innovations being rolled out across the wider Volkswagen model line.

With its bold exterior and premium equipment, Volkswagen New Zealand says the T-Roc has quickly become a Kiwi market favourite in the popular small-SUV market. Greg Leet, General Manager of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, believes the new ‘R’ addition will prove an absolute range highlight.

“The new Volkswagen T-Roc line up is strong, but it’s the highly anticipated ‘baby R’ that has our staff and dealerships buzzing. We know it’s going to be a hit; broadening out the T-Roc appeal and attracting a new audience with its balanced sport and style credentials paired with perfect performance,” he says.

“If we’ve learnt anything from the previous R launches, these won’t last long; both times saw us selling out early arrivals and for good reason.”

The new T-Roc heralds upgrades to its interior, exterior, and the technology found onboard. Volkswagen New Zealand says these incremental changes make the updated model better than ever, bolstered further by a sporty and athletic exterior that looks sharp on the road.

With LED headlights standard across the range, the newly restyled exterior and the four new paint colours, the T-Roc is designed to leave an impression. A host of new active safety features like Travel Assist, Emergency Assist and Automatic High Beam Assist will also bring added safety and sophistication to an already solid performing platform.

The line-up commences with the T-Roc Life 2WD grade (starting from $41,900 + ORCs). This entry grade comes with new standard features including Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, standard LED headlights and Automatic High Beam Assist, inductive wireless phone charging, steering wheel paddle shifters on the steering wheel and an 8” multi-function display instrument cluster.

Upgrades to the T-Roc R-Line 2WD (from $53,490 + ORCs) includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, Automatic High Beam Assist, a heated steering wheel, ‘Nappa’ leather appointed seats, power adjustable driver’s seat with heated and memory function, inductive wireless phone charging, Wireless App connect (Wireless Android Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay), and an electronic boot lid.

Introducing an elevated power to the equation, the new ‘baby R’ T-Roc R (from $68,990 + ORCs) offers further impressive upgrades to its driving dynamics and infotainment system, with enhanced performance-themed interior styling and exterior design to bring added adrenaline to everyday driving.

Featuring a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder turbo engine, the power in the T-Roc R is doubled over other variants to 221kW with 400Nm of torque. This allows the driver to make use of superb power delivery across a wide range of engine speeds.

The Volkswagen DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) system also replaces the standard suspension with an Active Damper allowing the driver to tune to different profile selections. Also, the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) system ensures excellent traction, handling and steering response while constantly monitoring driving conditions.

The new T-Roc R features IQ. Matrix LED Headlights with multiple individual modules and an LED Light Bar, enabling dynamic high-beam control and cornering lights. Other adornments include specifically designed front and rear bumpers, air intakes, blue brake callipers with the ‘R’ logo, and a body-coloured rear spoiler.

Ensuring sporty styling and feel are the 19” Estoril Alloy Wheels and the choice of an optional Akrapovič titanium sports exhaust to add that special ‘pop and crackle’ to lend a deeper, throatier sound to the whole driving experience.
