Big is good...GMSV introduce the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Tech Pack at Fieldays.

Jun 17, 2021

Silverado sets the bar for towing and all-round capability. It’s big, it’s tough and it comes ingrained with Chevy truck-DNA.

The Silverado will also be joined by the factory-manufactured right-hand drive C8 Corvette later this year.

Fieldays has become the event of choice for ute manufacturers to reveal their latest offerings and GMSV have now joined the throngs at Mystery Creek and officially presented the brand’s first offerings with the new Chevrolet Silverado range.

For most car buyers in New Zealand, the kiwi lifestyle commands a ute, they are ideal multi-purpose vehicles and, given it’s size and capability, one could argue the Chevrolet Silverado is an ideal companion for work and play. Leveraging over 100 years of expertise in truck manufacturing, Chevrolet do know a thing or two about building tough and dependable pick ups.

While the range will eventually consist of three models, the 1500 LTZ Premium Tech Pack is the launch model with the 1500 Trail Boss and the imposing Silverado 2500 being added to the line up later this year along with the much anticipated C8 Corvette.

Featuring a 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 petrol engine and generating a mammoth 313kW of power and delivering 624Nm of torque the Silverado is made for towing anything you can throw at it. While traditionally utes in the New Zealand markets have had a maximum tow rating of 3.5 tonne, the Silverado is rated at up to 4.5-tonnes.

The Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium Tech Pack offers a number of features that help make a long day of towing easy, including the proven technology of Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist and Auto Grade Braking. There are also segment firsts like Trailer Theft Alert, Electric Parking and Brake Hookup Assist.

An innovative Drive Mode selector enables the performance of the Silverado to be adjusted to suit different needs and requirements.  Modes include Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain and Snow/Ice.

It also comes standard with 13 unique camera views — all working to improve your towing job from start to finish.  They can make it easier to get hitched up, provide confidence while on the road, and even help manoeuvre into tight spots when ready to park.

The engine is coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission with a column-mounted gearshift selector, which provides space for a large centre console capable of hiding away large and bulky items.

The vehicle’s Durabed tray is light, large and strong - featuring roll-formed high-strength steel, a 2.5-cubic metre cargo bed volume, 12 tie-down points, as well as the innovative power-up-and-down tailgate which can be operated remotely with the key fob.

When it comes to looking after those on the inside, Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium steps up with refinement and technology features including Head-Up Display, Power Sunroof, Dual-zone Climate Control, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and rear heating on outboard seats.

Safety is also paramount, with standard equipment including Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium Tech Pack is priced at $127,990 and is available to order now.
