The first 911 Turbo hit public roads 50 years ago in 1974, and Porsche are celebrating the golden anniversary with an incredible display in their home town of Stuttgart.
This milestone celebration, running from April 25 to 28, promises a deep dive into the evolution of Porsche's turbocharged legacy, featuring an array of stunning exhibits showcasing the history of the Turbo.
In 1974, the sports car manufacturer presented the first series 911 Turbo at the Paris Motor Show. A technology that migrated from motorsport to series production in characteristic Porsche fashion.
Us Kiwis will be forced to admire this event from afar, but it will be something worth keeping an eye on as some incredible cars will be on display.
Central to the exhibition is the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo "No. 1," a symbol of Porsche's pioneering spirit and technological prowess. This historic model was gifted to Ferdinand Porsche’s daughter Louise Piëch in 1974 for her 70th birthday and was the first 911 Turbo on the road.
Other vehicles of note on display is a 911 Turbo 3.0 Coupé from 1975, one of the first series-production examples of the Turbo, and even modern specials like the 2020 911 Turbo S "Duet," a limited-edition collaboration with Embraer, blending automotive excellence with aviation-inspired design cues.
